Do you remember the first time you came to visit the World Center for Birds of Prey? For many Idaho residents, it was during a school field trip. Every year, we get to teach thousands of students about birds of prey here at our facility—at no charge to students or teachers. Not only do the kids get to meet our many education birds in person; they also get to learn about the adaptations and habitats of these fascinating creatures during a hands-on, interactive tour.

GET OUTSIDE Saturday August 14th: Take a road trip with several stops along the way up highway 21 & celebrate Kokanee Outdoor Days, an event to encourage young and old alike to get outside! You and those in your family will be treated to some great sites and learn about things like what makes healthy rivers and forests, how wild Kokanee travel up stream to spawn near Idaho City, where birds of prey nest and hunt, how geology affects wildlife and much more! At the end of the road trip (bus rides available), visit scores of booths at Brogan Park in historic Idaho City. Two raptors from The Peregrine Fund will be in attendence, and we encourage you to enjoy the event with your family. During the month of August at The World Center for Birds of Prey, every dollar Daka, our crow collects will be matched by the good folks at Layne Laboratories. Layne Labs produces some of the food our birds of prey need to keep them healthy; rats and mice. This month, every time Daka flies into the audience to accept monetary donations, he is doing double duty, as Layne Labs has offered to match us dollar for dollar. We have 27 birds of prey who need quality food to keep them healthy. With our guests' help and matching funds from Layne Labs, we will hopefully make a sizeable "dent" in our feeding bills for our avian ambassadors. During Daka's presentations, give generously; and  MANY thanks to all those who have already given "dollars to Daka".

There's a lot happening at the Velma Morrison Interpretive Center these days! In addition to the new Condor Cliffs exhibit, visitors can now view our male Harpy Eagle in his new "rainforest" habitat. We've enlarged the viewing windows and Luigi's new flight chamber comes complete with a rainforest mural on the back wall - depicting some of the thousands of plants and animals that are found in these biogem habitats. Come visit us and check out Luigi in his new digs!
